Welcome to the hidden treasures of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio in Central Italy. Our personal tours are a combination of walking and touring for small groups through the majestic landscape of this most historic and little known part of Italy.

You will be picked up from Rome airport and transferred to a 3 Star Plus hotel on the shores of Lake Bolsena which will be your base for the duration of the tour.

Our aim is to provide you with a relaxing hassle-free adventure through a land steeped in history and full of surprises.

This is the land of the Etruscans, an ancient civilization that predates the Roman Empire. Their artistic and cultural legacy can be seen in every part of Tuscia. You will be amazed by the richness of art and culture that can be found even in the smallest, most quaint towns and villages. The uniqueness of this area is that is off the beaten tourist track and offers the visitor a real insight into the Italian way of life in the countryside.

The Walks

Historic paths through some of the most scenic parts of Italy

Tuscia is the backbone of the Francigena Way. In Medieval times thousands of pilgrims walked from Cantebury to Rome for penitence and in search of the lost ‘Celestial Land’. Today it is still possible to walk along these old paths and it is here that we will take you among scenic woodlands, volcanic hills and skirting around the beautiful lake of Bolsena. taking in the history and the beauty of the area.

On the third day, we will walk the Francigena Way from Radicofani to Proceno (25km) through the striking Val D’Orcia Valley.

On the fifth day we will walk the Francigena Way from Bolsena to Montefiascone (19km).

The Guides

The walks are led by qualified local guides who possess a wealth of knowledge of the local history and fauna.

The Distances

You can walk as far as you are able and you will be picked up at various pre-arranged points along the route and brought back to Bolsena.

 

On the morning of the second day we will explore Bolsena visiting the cathedral of Santa Cristina, home of the ‘Eucharistic Miracle’ and enjoy the town with it’s stunning views of the lake and it’s medieval quarter and castle.

In the afternoon of the second day we will travel to Bagnoreggio (20km) to visit the unique hamlet of Civita.

On the fourth day we will visit the Medieval city of Orvieto (20km) with it’s magnificent cathedral.

On the sixth day we will visit Pienza (65km), showcasing an example of urban planning and then onto Montelpuciano (15km), home of the famous ‘Vino Nobilo’.

On the third day, we will walk the Francigena Way from Radicofani to Proceno (25km) through the striking Val D’Orcia Valley.

On the fifth day we will walk the Francigena Way from Bolsena to Montefiascone (19km).

The Accommodation

You will be staying in a very comfortable 3 Star family run hotel right on the shores of Lake Bolsena.
The hotel is surrounded by large gardens and has a swimming pool. All rooms are ensuite and single rooms are available for a supplement. Continental breakfast and evening dinner with the house wine are included in the price.

Price includes airport transfer (from and to), 7 nights B&B and 7 dinner and in a premium 3 star hotel on the shores of Lake Bolsena, guided tours by minibus to turist sites and guided walking tours.
